    Get PDF
Corporate sustainability is now becoming an essential part of corporate business strategy. Companies in developed countries are adopting environmental, social, and economic practices to become a social ambassador. In many countries, companies that choose corporate social responsibility by adopting sustainable practices tend to have better financial performance and brand image. Many countries are rapidly adopting corporate sustainability strategies to promote green innovation. Researchers have argued that it is still considered to be a cost for the firm's investors, especially in developing countries like Malaysia. Evidence shows that these strategies show a positive sign in the company's financial performance. However, in some studies, it is still considered to be a sunk cost, particularly in the Asian region. It is challenging, if not impossible, to embed responsible behavior truly. The companies need to promote social, environmental, and economic practices that are considered to be beneficial for external investors. The paper proposes the conceptual model to understand how shareholders will respond if companies adopt sustainability practices, primarily if they invest in green innovation projects. The study is going to develop into a concrete hypothesis for future studies. This study aims to explore the impact of sustainability practices on the company's share performance with the mediation of green innovation. The model serves as a useful guide for adopting corporate sustainability practices to promoting green innovation and how it will affect the firm's share performance

Disasters cannot be prevented fully but their impacts and severity can be lessened through the application of certain frameworks. However, there is currently a lack of a robust framework in building the disaster resilient and sustainable communities in Malaysia. Malaysians are increasingly finding themselves not being spared from disasters especially flood events. In order to keep pace with these occurring disasters in Malaysia, Community Resilience Frameworks are the backbone strategies among various stakeholders and can assure non-futile efforts for building safer and more resilient communities. Community Resilience Framework sets out the drivers, existing good practices, scopes, aims and work streams respectively for a long-term programme designed to increase the disaster resilience of communities. This paper has attempted to review the existence of disaster resilient communities in detail. Some Community Resilience Frameworks in the context of natural disasters in Malaysia will also be discussed. In this paper, literature is used as a foundation for a new insight contribution. A document analysis method on relevant policies and literatures also been adopted. It is envisaged that the findings of this study could be clinically useful for building a disaster resilient community and also closing the gaps in disaster risk reduction (DRR) in Malaysi

In the last three decades globally higher institutions (HIs) have been experiencing an unprecedented upsurge in student population and student enrolment in His generally outstrip the HIs student housing. In many countries of the world like Nigeria, HIs are obviously incapacitated in accommodating the growing student population which compelled numerous students to overflow into their HIs’ neighbourhood seeking for alternative housing accommodation in the private housing rental market. Indeed the scenario of HIs student's housing shortfalls and increasing students housing demand evolved the interest of many people in a student housing rental market. This is because it has been uncovered that business in student housing rental is lucrative and guaranteeing business that ensured profit for a long term. This paper, therefore, explores the nature and landscape of student housing rental in Nigeria where the business is immature then drawn the conclusion

The world population has been growing tremendously, which surged up the demand and enrolment in educational institutions to unimaginable level globally. Similarly, Malaysia has witnessed tremendous growth in higher education both in the order and establishment of new higher education institutions (HEIs) to match up with the demand. However, there is no commensurate increase in the student housing facilities to match up with the growing enrolment and demand; hence, accommodate a certain proportion of the total students. The paper explored qualitative methodology data from in-depth expert interviews of selected public and private universities in Malaysia; discussed the problems of HEIs student housing provision to four identified themes: student enrolment, government policy, funding and land issues as what exacerbated the issues. Therefore, challenges for student housing provision are enormous; hence HEIs and Government cannot adequately respond and satisfy the demand unless private housing developers actively involved otherwise problems of student housing provision will continue to persist

The decision to use reverse mortgage is influenced by a myriad of factors among which some are behaviourally related. Identification and validation of these behavioural factors are necessary to be able to objectively explain their interrelationships and effect on individual’s decision to use the product in the future. This paper reports a pilot survey result that aimed at validating a questionnaire designed specifically to collect data on the behavioural factors that might likely influence individual’s intention to use reverse mortgage in the future. Using a convenient sampling strategy, a total number of 102 sampled respondents were used in the study. The data were analyzed with the aid of the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 23 where a factor analysis and reliability analyses were conducted. The result revealed that out of the 53 items that originally formed the questionnaire items, only 41 were retained. A total of 10 components emerged from the data which were named in accordance with their underlying constructs. All the factor loadings in reported satisfied the acceptable threshold of .50. The reliabilities of the items and the respective scales were also within the acceptable range of .70. It was therefore concluded that the questionnaire was reliable and can be used for the purpose to which is was designed fo
